Harriet Burns at Waterperry Festival

Soprano Harriet Burns has been announced as part of the Waterperry Festival line up this year.

King Harald’s Saga tells the story of the Norwegian invasion of England in 1066 led by King Harald, which ended in defeat at the battle of Stamford Bridge, nineteen days before the successful Norman invasion at the Battle of Hastings.

This one-woman show, directed by Eleanor Burke, features eight different characters, as well as the part of the Norwegian army! Hilariously entertaining, this fast-paced production is site-specific show for the Waterperry Gardens.

There will be a post-show talkback entitled “The Making of King Harald’s Saga.”

Harriet’s performances will take place on 12th and 13th August at 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Harriet Burns is the recipient of numerous awards including 2nd prize at the 2019 Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera International Song Competition, the Compulsory Song Prize and Recital Prize at the 2019 International Vocal Competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, 1st prize at the 2019 Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, winner of the 2018 Oxford Lieder Young Artists Platform, the 2017 Paul Hamburger Prize for Lieder and the 2017 Franz-Schubert-Institut Competition.
