Ligeti Quartet to perform at Bourgie Hall, Canada

Ligeti Quartet are heading to Canada this November to perform in Montreal’s Bourgie Hall, as part of their recently announced 23-24 season. It is very first season crafted by its new directors, Artistic Director Olivier Godin and Executive Director Caroline Louis.

Located at the heart of a vast museum complex and endowed with exceptional acoustics, Bourgie Hall has been offering music lovers remarkable encounters with artists of international calibre for 13 seasons. In keeping with previous seasons that have contributed to the reputation of this concert hall popular among music lovers, but also with a strong desire to blaze new trails, the programming for 2023-2024 is intended to be unifying and aligned with today’s musical world.

The Quartet’s performance will take place on Sunday 5th November at 2.30pm. 

The programme will include:

Selections from Nouvelles Études, including those by Nicole Lizée and Ana Sokolovic, commissioned by the Ligeti Quartet and Bourgie Hall (world premiere)
Lukas Ligeti World Premiere
György Ligeti
String Quartet No. 2
String Quartet No. 1, “Métamorphoses nocturnes”

The Ligeti Quartet is dedicated to performing modern and contemporary music, commissioning new works, and engaging a diverse audience. Formed in 2010, they were united by their fascination with the music of György Ligeti, and have since established a reputation as leading exponents of new music.
