Due to unforeseen circumstances, Antoine Préat has had to withdraw from this concert. City Music Foundation and Emmanuel Coppey are grateful to Mihai Ritivoiu, who has stepped in at short notice. The programme has, therefore, been changed from what was originally advertised.
Mihai Ritivoiu
Mihai is a 2016 City Music Foundation Artist is a prize-winner in several international competitions, most notably the George Enescu International Competition. He has performed in Romania, Great Britain, Italy, Portugal, France, Germany and Japan, and has appeared as soloist with the George Enescu Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and MDR Leipzig.

A 2022 City Music Foundation artist, Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel Artiste en Résidence, Frankfurt Ensemble Modern Academy and London Contemporary soloists member, London-based French violinist Emmanuel Coppey is building a promising concert career.

Franck Violin Sonata
Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 7
César Franck’s Violin Sonata is one of his best-known works, and has been described as one of the greatest violin sonatas in the repertoire. Franck’s melodic sonata is paired with Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 7, written during the composer’s middle period and characterised by expanded weight and forcefulness best demonstrated in his symphonies, but also present in his chamber music.
