Claire Ward

British/Irish soprano Claire Ward is a 2022-2024 City Music Foundation Artist and a young artist with Opera Prelude since 2021.

Having such knowledge and support around will be really valuable to building a sustainable and varied career.

In 2023 she made her solo debuts at Queen Elizabeth Hall with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by John Wilson, and at St. Martin-in-the-fields with her baroque trio The Portrait Players. In April 2023 Claire joined The Monteverdi Choir in performances of Bach’s B Minor Mass and Berlioz Les Troyens as a Monteverdi apprentice working with John Eliot Gardiner and Dinis Sousa in tours across Europe. On stage, Claire has performed at Opera Holland Park in the chorus and in the role of Frantik, in The Cunning Little Vixen. In 2019 she covered the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at The Grange Festival and in the same year sang the role of Venus in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis at the Royal Academy of Music. Claire made her Oxford Song Festival debut in 2019, returning to the festival in 2021. She works frequently with Live Music Now, devising interactive concerts for school and care settings.
