City Music Foundation is pleased to announce ten new artists joining the CMF Artist Programme as ‘2022 CMF Artists’.

Emmanuel Coppey (violin), Jonathan Eyers (baritone), Sebastian Issler (pianist-in-residence), Waynne Kwon (cello), Helena Ricci (harp), Caroline Taylor (soprano), Claire Ward (soprano), Mikeleiz-Zucchi Duo (accordion/saxophone), Paddington Trio (piano trio) and Piano Phase Project (piano duo) will join the CMF family of emerging musicians.

From an outstanding and diverse field of applicants these ten artists have been selected to join CMF’s innovative two-year artist development programme. They are the 10th consecutive intake on the scheme, selected through a series of audition stages, culminating in a final live audition to our expert panels of judges. These artists were chosen due to their exceptional talent, regardless of instrument or genre, and because we felt they would benefit from the range of support CMF provides.

The judges for the live auditions were William Dazeley, Stephen Farr, Deniz Gelenbe, Paul Keene, Jonathan Rennert, Hannah Roberts, Joan Rodgers, Alison Teale, Anna Tilbrook, and Louise Williams. CMF’s partnership with Barts Heritage allowed the in-person auditions, as well as the subsequent photography, to take place in the stunning Great Hall in the North Wing of St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Managing Director of CMF, Clare Taylor says: “We are thrilled, on reaching our 10th anniversary, to welcome 10 very accomplished, talented soloists and ensembles into the CMF family. Artists have emerged from the pandemic into a new musical landscape bustling with activity, filled with innovation and opportunity, yet more difficult to navigate and succeed in than ever before. We very much look forward to working with them over the next two years to give them the tools, experience and networks they need to secure their careers. We are also delighted to have selected our first pianist-in-residence, who will collaborate with our singers and we hope they might develop lasting relationships.”

Current and previous CMF artists include Connaught Brass, soprano Anna Cavaliero, cellist Margarita Balanas, mezzo Helen Charlston, pianist Samson Tsoy, violin & piano duo Foyle-Stsura, Ligeti Quartet, mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean and jazz double-bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado.
