Anna was a 2017-18 Britten-Pears Young Artist, and 2019 Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera. In 2019, she won the Opera Prelude Singer’s Prize, and was semi-finalist in the London Mozart Competition. She was also awarded second prize in the Lies Askonas competition 2017.

 

British-Hungarian soprano Anna Cavaliero was a member of the 2018/19 studio of the Opéra National de Lyon. After graduating from Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music, Anna completed her studies with Barbara Bonney at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She is a Samling Artist, member of the Handel House Talent Scheme and City Music Foundation, and performs regularly in recital and concert through the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Recital Scheme, Opera Prelude, and Live Music Now.

Recent operatic engagements include Ground Ivy/ The Fairy Queen (Waterperry Opera Festival); Soliste, Mme Rossignol/ Romeo and Juliet (Boris Blacher, Théâtre de La Croix Rousse/ Opéra de Lyon); Zerlina/ Don Giovanni (Waterperry Opera Festival); Fortuna, Damigella, Venere/ L’incoronazione di Poppea (Longborough Festival Opera); Mab, Adelaide/ The Enchanted Pig (Jonathan Dove, Hampstead Garden Opera); Euridice (cover)/ Orfeo ed Euridice (Longborough Festival Opera); Die Prinzessin/ The Hogboon (Peter Maxwell-Davies, Philharmonie de Luxembourg); Galatea/ Acis and Galatea (Snape Maltings); Pamina/ The Magic Flute; La Musica, Proserpina/ L’Orfeo; Annina/ La Traviata.

In concert, Anna has been privileged to sing in diverse and prestigious venues such as the Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Southwark Cathedral, and The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. She particularly enjoys performing oratorios from the baroque and classical periods, as well as recitals of song repertoire. Concerts include recitals for Oxford Lieder with Sholto Kynoch and Handel’s Messiah at Hereford Cathedral.

Whilst at the Royal College of Music, Anna was a Drapers de Turckheim scholar and an Ian Evans Lombe Scholar supported by a Helen Marjorie Tonks Award. At Cambridge University, Anna was an inaugural scholar of the Pembroke Lieder Scheme, and a choral scholar with Trinity College Choir. Anna was also awarded the CD Broad visiting scholarship to Rice University, Houston, where she studied in 2012/13.
