Kleio Quartet win Carl Neilsen International Chamber Music Competition

City Music Foundation is pleased to report that 2021 CMF Artists, Kleio Quartet, have won the Carl Neilsen International Chamber Music Competition, competing in the string quartet category.

The organisers of the competition reported that “there was fight to the finish here at the finale for strings and you could feel the nervous tension in the big hall at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. After having heard all three ensembles playing both Beethoven and Carl Nielsen the jury chose Kleio Quartet from London for the 1st Prize and the best performance of the commissioned piece, NOVO Quartet from Copenhagen for the 2nd Prize and Quartett Hana from München for the 3rd Prize. Congratulations to you all and thanks for a fantastic week full of excitement.”

Described by Alina Ibragimova as “a wonderfully dedicated group of musicians who bring assuredness and freshness to everything they play”, the Kleio Quartet was formed at the Seiji Ozawa International Chamber Academy in 2019. They consist of individually acclaimed musicians Yume Fujise, Katherine Yoon, Jenny Lewisohn and Eliza Millett.
