George Fu in the press

George Fu piano

Pianist George Fu has been acclaimed in the pressrecently – from appearing on end of year “best of” lists, to getting some seriously good reviews for his debut album, he’s certainly been busy.

George’s St Martin-in-the-Fields recital has been chosen as one of Arts Desk’s Best Classical Music Concerts of 2022. David Nice commented that George’s programme was “interweaving Chopin, Caroline Shaw and Rzewski with typical intelligence and – when needed – ferocity”.

His upcoming Aldeburgh Festival performance, where he will perform a world premierre by Anna Thorvaldsdóttir has featured in the Guardian’s The best new music to look forward to in 2023 and in Gramophone’s preview of the festival.

George’s debut album, Mirrors has been reviewed in Gramophone (“Fu’s precise fingerwork cannot be faulted, and his gift for programme-building deserves serious attention”) and International Piano (“Fu’s fluent and nuanced ‘Barque’ is one of the finest available”).

Passionate about the creation of new work, George is an active composer and performer of both traditional and contemporary music, having collaborated with eminent composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Harrison Birtwistle, Tansy Davies, Philip Cashian, George Lewis, Unsuk Chin, Matthew Aucoin, and Freya Waley-Cohen.
