First Prize for George Robarts in Lotte Lenya competition
Current CMF artist, George Robarts, has had a busy time in New York! Having had a successful semi-final in March, he returned in May for the final of the Lotte Lenya competition, winning the $25,000 First Prize. George treated the audience to a 15-minute programme of patter, from G&S to Sondheim, lauded by the judges with “enthusiastic phrases such as “phenomenal actor,” “every moment spontaneous,” and “impeccable delivery of lyrics.” Especially taken with his performance of Kurt Weill’s “Muschel von Margate,” they awarded it a rare near-perfect score”.
Huge congratulations to George and we look forward to hearing him at 1pm on the 29th of July as part of the CMF livery hall series at The Cutlers’ Hall with Edward Picton-Turbervill. Tickets for this event can be found here.
A recording of the Finals is available on the Kurt Weill Foundation’s webpage: Lotte Lenya 2025 Final
