Pianist Cordelia Williams has been announced as taking part in the 2023-24 Turner Sims concert series. Her performance at the Southampton venue will take place on Tuesday 8th October at 8pm.

Beethoven Six Bagatelles, Op 126
Schubert Impromptu in F minor, D935 No 1
Brahms Intermezzi, Op 117
Schumann Fantasie, Op 17

Cordelia is renowned for her interpretations of the music of Schubert and Schumann and both composers feature in the evening recital. Writing to his future wife, Clara Wieck, Robert Schumann described the first movement of his Fantasie as ‘…the most passionate I have ever composed…’.

The recital opens with Beethoven’s last work for piano. He described the work to his publishers as ‘…probably the best piece of this kind I have written.’

Cordelia Williams-Charlton has been acclaimed as a pianist of great power and delicate sensitivity, drawing in audiences with her rich sound, natural eloquence and “spell-binding simplicity”.
