Reviews of Helen Charlston’s performance at the BBC Proms

Helen Charlston

Helen Charlston’s performance at the BBC Proms has been reviewed in several publications.

The Guardian “A revelatory evening.”

Planet Hugill “Helen Charlston brought great beauty of tone and sense of line to her moments as the Angel, creating a significant effect in a small moment.”

MusicOMH called Helen “The star of the show”.

Lark Reviews “Helen Charlston stood out as an authoritative Angel, adding edge and aggression to her tone for a formidable Queen in part II”

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra presented one of the most popular works in the British choral repertoire: Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Full of earthquakes and hurricanes, fiery chariots, wicked queens and holy visions, this intensely dramatic oratorio is brought to life by the SCO’s exciting young Music Director Maxim Emelyanychev alongside soloists Roderick Williams, Carolyn Sampson, Andrew Staples and Helen Charlston.

You can now listen to the Prom, recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall on BBC Sounds.

Equally at home in recital and in front of an orchestra, Australian violinist Emily Sun was the winner of the 2018 ABC Young Performers Award, which will see her perform concertos with the Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras in the coming seasons.
