Mari Poll

In September 2015 she will make her debut with Orchestre de Paris under Paavo Järvi, performing Arvo Pärt’s Tabula Rasa for two violins with Viktoria Mullova.

In 2012 Mari released her recording debut with the EMI Classics for the EMI Digital Debut series, which is available on iTunes. In the same year Mari performed Ligeti violin concerto twice with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and later with RCM Philharmonic Orchestra. Mari is an inaugural prize winner of the City Music Foundation 2013. She has also appeared in the BBC 3 radio In Tune programme.

Mari is a multiple prizewinner at international competitions including the 3rd Prize at Vibrarte International Violin Competition in France, 1st Prize at Derek Butler London Prize, winner of the CSMUNICAJA Soloist Competition and RCM Concerto Competition, Finalist of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Sion, 4 Special Prizes at H.Eller International Violin Competition in Estonia, Special Prize at L.Spohr International Violin Competition and 5th Prize at Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition in Germany, she is also recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the Derek Butler London Trust Award , MBF Postgraduate Performance Award, Stephen Bell Charitable Trust Award, Martyn Musical Scholarship Award and ESFUSA Award.

In 2012/13 Mari held the Constant and Kit Lambert Junior Fellowship at the Royal College of Music and at the same year she was also awarded with the Tagore Gold Medal by the Royal College of Music that was presented to her by HRH the Prince of Wales.

Mari currently holds the 2nd Concertmaster position in Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. Mari has also been invited to lead and co-lead the Norrbotten NEO Contemporary Ensemble, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Bodo Sinfonieta.

Mari has performed at various festivals such as the Bergen International Festival, Bowdoin International Summer Music Festival, Courchevel Music Festival, New Virtuosi Mastercourse, Lausanne Duo Masterclass, Ultima Contemporary Music Festival.

Mari regularly performs with her brother, pianist Mihkel Poll and with pianist Jennifer Hughes.

Mari is a graduate at the Royal College of Music in London (BMus, MPerf, Junior Fellow on Art Dip) where she studied with Jan Repko and later with Radu Blidar. She was supported by the Derek Butler London Trust and the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Later she also received a Soloist Diploma degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Peter Herresthal.
