Hannah Morgan

Oboist Hannah Morgan, studied at Cambridge University and The Royal Academy of Music, graduating with First Class Honours.

 

From 2014-16, as a member of the Karajan Academy, Hannah performed regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle and other eminent conductors. Her work with the orchestra included tours, recordings, and live cinema broadcasts. Hannah remains in demand as an orchestral player, appearing regularly as guest Principal Oboe with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Oxford Philharmonic.

Hannah is the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Hattori Foundation Senior Award and 1st Prize at the Third International Barbirolli Competition. As a selected musician for the Tillett Trust Young Artists’ Platform and Countess of Munster Recital Scheme, Hannah made her debut recital at the Wigmore Hall in 2016 and performed as a soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra at Cadogan Hall, to critical acclaim.

Hannah is enthusiastic about music education and, whilst living abroad, wrote and directed five children’s concerts for the Berlin Philharmonic. She played Principal Oboe in the premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Opera, Monster in the Maze, and also alongside the Soma Children’s Orchestra for a project organised by El Sistema Japan. She has tutored for the National Youth Chamber and Wind Orchestras, taught reed-making at The Purcell School and was an Open Academy Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music 2016-17.
