Ligeti Quartet to perform at Kings Place

Ligeti Quartet

Ligeti Quartet will perform as part of Kings Place’s Sound Unwrapped series on Friday 12 May.

They will bring the now-vintage sound world of Steve Reich’s iconic Different Trains into the present day via the d&b Soundscape system in Kings Place’s Hall Two.

Alongside this poignant workLigeti Quartet presents tracks from their new album Nuc, a collaboration with award-winning composer Anna Meredith. In addition to strings, Nuc features the sounds of synths, drum machines, birdsong, an MRI scanner, brass and hums, proving the durability of the string quartet in the 21st century.

The Ligeti Quartet is dedicated to performing modern and contemporary music, commissioning new works, and engaging a diverse audience. Formed in 2010, they were united by their fascination with the music of György Ligeti, and have since established a reputation as leading exponents of new music.
