2018 CMF artist Helen Charlston’s brand new CD with Toby Carr, ‘Battle Cry: She Speaks’, features music of the seventeenth century alongside a City Music Foundation commission from composer Owain Park. Released on Delphian Records, this world premiere recording of Owain Park’s song-cycle has been described in the Guardian as an “outstanding disc”, praising “Charlston’s distinctive, expressive lower register, and […] clarity of every word”.
Acclaimed for her musical interpretation, presence and “warmly distinctive tone” (The Telegraph), Helen Charlston has quickly cemented herself as a key performer in the next generation of British singers. Helen won first prize in the 2018 Handel Singing Competition and was a finalist in the Hurn Court Opera Competition, and the Grange Festival International Singing Competition. She was a ‘Rising Star’ of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment 2017-2019. More about Helen…
