Helen Charlston Messiah reviews

Helen Charlston

Helen Charlston’s performance with BBC Singers and Britten Sinfonia in Mozart/Handel Messiah has been reviewed.

In I News, Jessica Duchen praised all four soloists, saying “The fine young soloists included the heart-soaring soprano of Hilary Cronin, the characterful mezzo Helen Charlston and a tenor, Laurence Kilsby, who is full of potential.”

Meanwhile MusicOMH‘s Barry Creasy wrote that Helen’s “laser beam voice of focused creaminess delivering precision and nuanced emotion to all her numbers; the contrasts she brought to the two sections of ‘But who may abide’ were benchmark.”

Acclaimed for her musical interpretation, presence and “warmly distinctive tone” (The Telegraph), Helen Charlston has quickly cemented herself as a key performer in the next generation of British singers.
