Commissions
Original works for remarkable talents
We regularly commission new musical works for specific artists on the CMF Artist Development Programme, bringing our Artists together with remarkable composers and arrangers. Artists enjoy the focus of the composer who works with them to capitalise on, stretch and develop their distinct talents.
Examples have included:
Battle Cry – a song cycle commissioned from Owain Park for Helen Charlston (mezzo soprano) and Toby Carr (theorbo)
The Isolation Songbook (during lockdown) from 15 composers for Helen Charlston.
The Telemann 250 project of 13 short commissions for Tabea Debus.
Between Heaven and the Clouds – poetry and paintings reflecting on Messiaen’s piano pieces from Michael Symonds Roberts and Sophie Hacker.
All Beauteous Things commissioned for our partnership launch with Barts Heritage from CMF Artist Giacomo Susani.
An arrangement of Britten’s Les Illuminations for voice and string quartet for Anna Cavaliero, from Paul Max Edlin.
