Rokas Valuntonis

On Thursday 2nd May 2019, Lithuanian pianist Rokas Valuntonis (2017 CMF Artist) vowed a packed St Bart’s the Great with a wide-ranging solo recital.

Culminating in a standing ovation, Rokas Valuntonis presented a colossal programme, music by Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Schumann, Scriabin, Debussy, Scarlatti, and Liszt. The setting was intimate: the audience arranged in a semicircle with the stage and the stunning specially lit for the occasion. The audience contained a number of high-profile figures from the music industry, as well as a delegation from the Lithuanian Embassy in London. After an enthralling performance of Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz No. 1, Rokas rewarded the applause with Vladimir Horowitz’s virtuosic Carmen Variations as an encore.
