Established in 2020, the award-winning Kyan Quartet brings together four exceptional musicians from the United Kingdom, the United States, China, and France.
The quartet enjoys a vibrant career, having performed across Europe and Asia. Recent highlights include winning the Richmond Concert Society Award at the 2024 Royal Over-Seas League competition, and undertaking a three-week tour throughout China. The quartet are proud artists of Le Dimore del Quartetto and the Tunnell Trust Awards Scheme.
The Kyans are grateful to have worked with many inspiring chamber musicians, including members of the Doric, Artemis, Carducci, Kuss, Chilingirian, and Heath quartets. They have won places on the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, Chamber Studio’s Hans Keller Forum and Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland’s International Chamber Music Campus.
Widening musical participation is an integral part of the quartet’s artistic mission. As 2022/23 fellows of the Open Academy/Wigmore Hall Learning Programme, they appeared regularly on the Wigmore stage and in community settings, sharing music with young families and those living with dementia. The Kyans continue engaging with the local community in schools and care homes across London as Live Music Now artists.
The quartet pride themselves on championing new music, giving Wigmore premieres of commissioned pieces by Florence Anna Maunders and Zhenyan. They collaborated with Cem Güven to record his 2023 quartet Atmospheric Manipulations, and will feature on Ben Nobuto’s upcoming debut album. Next season, the quartet are looking forward to performances at Wigmore Hall and Conway Hall, as well as a tour across Scotland.
